Every year, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, organises Prism, an entrepreneurial simulation which stretches across three days and serves as a test of a plethora of abilities which an individual possesses. Stretching across five rounds, not only does the event test one’s oratory and analytical skills, but it also serves as a test of your crisis management strategies and core business domains like marketing, finance, HR-PR, and much more.
Last year, the event created waves by getting more than 900+ registrations and boasting avant garde speaker sessions from industry veterans like Mr. Alok Garodia, the Chief Financial Officer of Prime Venture Partners, Mr. Amitabh Ray, the Managing Director of Ericsson Global Services, and Mr. Nayan Mehta, the Chief Financial Officer of BSE Limited. These sessions were well received and boasted an audience of 1000+ students.
The event in itself was nothing short of a roller coaster ride for the participants, and had intriguing rounds themed around owning and running a restaurant called W.T.F.(where’s the food?), oil trading simulations, and good old group discussions with a fun twist. Innovative concepts of power cards, loans and cutting-edge case studies were a welcome addition to the rounds as well. All in all, each round ensured that the participants thoroughly enjoyed the event, whilst learning new things along the way, and most importantly, engaging with their peers and creating memories which they would cherish for the years to come. The simulations successfully celebrated the spirit of entrepreneurship which this cell, the biggest E-cell of the Eastern Indian region, strives to promote, and ensured that the new students get a warm welcome to the college.
This year, the event will be held on 7th, 8th and 9th of August, promising to be even more action packed than last year. The rounds have been designed to ensure parity and a level playing field for everyone, ensuring that the freshly inducted first years are tested thoroughly whilst having a memorable experience. The goal is to bring out the best in them, to see them decode the enigma of possibilities, and hopefully emerge victorious while doing it.
Hence, every first year is encouraged to register for and participate in Prism ‘23, no matter whether they’ve participated in business conclaves previously or not, to ensure that they have an action packed start to their college life here at St. Xavier’s!
