The journey to Bollywood stardom is often paved with dreams, perseverance, and an unrelenting passion for storytelling. For Yuvraj Vijjan, his debut in Jigra not only marked the beginning of his career but also an opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented names in the industry. In this candid conversation, he reflects on his experiences, challenges, and aspirations.
The Journey Begins
Landing a role in Jigra was nothing short of a dream come true for Yuvraj Vijjan. “It was an incredible experience to be part of such a massive project,” he shared. “To work alongside such an experienced and talented cast in my debut movie was surreal. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity.”
Preparing for his character required deep immersion. “I read the script multiple times to understand the character’s thoughts and angst,” he explained. “Since we were on death row in a prison, I had to connect with the character’s relationships, especially with his father, played by the brilliant Manoj Pahwa sir. It wasn’t just challenging—it was immensely enjoyable. Having a director like Vasan sir made the process even better, as he provided just the right balance of guidance and creative freedom.”
Sharing the Spotlight
In Jigra, Yuvraj Vijjan shared screen space with stalwarts like Alia Bhatt and rising stars like Vedang Raina. Reflecting on his time with them, he said, “It was amazing to be around Alia ma’am, one of the finest actors we have. Just observing her taught me so much. Vedang is also incredibly talented, and I spent more time with him since most of my scenes were with him. His knowledge of cinema, including Hollywood classics, was inspiring. He’d often recommend movies, which was a great way to learn.”
Embracing the Spotlight
Transitioning into the limelight was an organic process for Yuvraj Vijjan. “Honestly, I didn’t think about the spotlight,” he revealed. “For me, it was all about the work. Landing this role was a job I’d been trying to secure for months. My focus was on giving my best on set and letting everything else follow.”
The Inspiration to Act
Acting wasn’t always a planned career for Yuvraj Vijjan. “It wasn’t one specific moment but a series of events that pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and explore acting. Once I started, it was so much fun that I realized this is exactly what I want to do. My family and friends have been incredibly supportive, which is crucial in a field where the next opportunity is often uncertain.”
Connecting with the Character
When asked about how he connected with his role in Jigra, he said, “I love this part of the process. Exploring the character’s psyche, understanding his experiences, and imagining his thoughts before a scene are all creative challenges I enjoy. It helps me connect deeply with the character.”
Memorable Moments on Set
Choosing a single favorite moment from the sets of Jigra proved impossible. “Every day on set felt special,” he said. “Being my first movie, the entire journey was unforgettable.”
Handling Pressure and Expectations
As a newcomer, Yuvraj Vijjan prefers to focus on the present. “I don’t think about the pressure. Right now, my sole focus is on getting good work and doing it to the best of my ability. I’m a process-oriented person, and I like to focus on the next step.”
The Changing Face of Bollywood
According to him, it’s an exciting time to be an actor. “With so many platforms now, there are incredible opportunities for newcomers. The key is to keep working on your craft and staying persistent because you never know when an opportunity might knock on your door.”
What’s Next?
Looking ahead, Yuvraj Vijjan is eager to explore diverse genres. “I’d love to do a rom-com, as it’s a genre I enjoy. An action thriller is also on my list after realizing how much I enjoyed doing stunts in Jigra. While nothing is finalized yet, I’m auditioning and hope to share something soon.”
Advice for Aspiring Actors
For those dreaming of making it big in Bollywood, his advice is simple: “Keep going, no matter how frustrating it gets. Close your eyes and keep putting in the work because it can all turn around in one day. When it does, all your hard work will be worth it.”
