Parthip Thyagarajan is the CEO and co-founder of WeddingSutra.com, India’s first wedding portal and the most comprehensive information and ideas resource on weddings.
With over two decades of experience in writing on Indian weddings– Parthip is a veritable storehouse of information on this industry– from who planned which high-profile wedding to which celebrity got married where. Ask him about five high profile Indian weddings he enjoyed covering in the most comprehensive way on WeddingSutra.com and its social media and he tells us that it’s the Jindal wedding which took place at Villa le Rose in Florence, Esha Deol’s celebrations which were held between The Lalit and the ISKCON temple in Juhu, Karena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s wedding at the Taj Mahal Palace and the two Ambani weddings held at the Jio Gardens and Jio Convention Centre.
Post pandemic, Parthip says he enjoyed covering two simple yet high profile weddings which depicted how to have an intimate yet fun celebration in the new normal.
Actress Kajal Aggarwal’s intimate wedding at the Taj Mahal Palace and designer Natasha Dalal & actor Varun Dhawan’s wedding in Alibaug.
One of the special features and highlights of WeddingSutra is their curated list of top wedding professionals and vendors- titled WeddingSutra Favorite the list features the best in the business who have been a part of the grandest and most exquisite wedding celebrations in India. From ace wedding planners like FB Celebrations and VV Weddings, the most talented photographers like Harsheen Jammu and Ramit Batra, the comprehensive list is the best go-to guide for anyone planning a home town wedding at an exclusive venue or a destination wedding in India or anywhere in the world.
On how destination weddings are shaping up now, Parthip tells us there is a huge demand for venues in hill-stations for summer weddings, and weekend hotspots like Lonavala, Alibaug near Mumbai, Mahabalipuram near Chennai, Mysore near Bengaluru and resorts that are located a little away from Delhi NCR are seeing a huge boom in demand. Rajasthan, Goa and Kerala will of course continue to be sought-after destinations in 2021 and 2022. Taj Chia Kutir Darjeeling and JW Mussoorie are on top of the list in 2021 and will continue to be there for some time, he concludes.
