A Journey with Sonia

One of Mrunal’s standout performances was in Love Sonia. The role of Sonia was a profound experience for her. “Landing the role of Sonia was a profound experience for me. The casting of the film was critical for the makers, as the entire story centers on the anguished Sonia’s experiences, so they were on the lookout for the perfect Sonia,” she recalls. The rigorous casting process involved auditioning 2,500 girls across different cities, and Mrunal emerged as the chosen one. Mentorship and Wisdom

Mrunal attributes a significant part of her success to the mentorship of director Tabrez Noorani. One piece of advice from Noorani has stuck with her: “Mrunal, irrespective of the production, crew or stars attached to a project, if the story doesn’t resonate with you…do not do it.” This wisdom guides her in choosing roles that she can truly connect with, ensuring that her performances are genuine and impactful.

Off-screen, Mrunal finds solace in travel and spending time with loved ones. An annual girls’ trip with her best friend is a non-negotiable tradition she cherishes. “Besides traveling, if I get some time off, I spend time with my cat and my family, or you’ll catch me sleeping,” she says with a laugh, revealing her love for quality time in slumberland.

From Television to Film

Mrunal’s journey from television to film has been a rewarding one. She credits her television beginnings for solidifying her foundation in acting. “Starting your career in television is like learning to drive a car in Mumbai; if you learn here, you can do well anywhere,” she says, emphasizing the diverse experiences and learning opportunities television provided.
