Maison Shantnu & Nikhil Expand Physical Store Presence in India with a New Location in Mumbai, taking store count to 16

“Shantnu & Nikhil” Couture Store Opens at 133-year-old Restored Structure

17th March 2023: Maison Shantnu & Nikhil, known for their unconventionally crafted India proud sentiment, cross yet another pathbreaking milestone in their fashion journey of twenty two years, as they present a new flagship store in Mumbai for the “Shantnu & Nikhil” couture label. This new address opens within a restored 133 year old structure in the heritage fashion & art precinct of Kalaghoda, bringing together historic marvels of architecture with new age sensibilities in a unique amalgamation that beautifully mirrors the founding ethos of the couture label.

The opening of new flagship store was hosted in the same manner as “Cocktail Party- Reimagined by Shantnu & Nikhil”. The evening witnessed the spectacular Kriti Sanon, embodying the true essence of a S&N Muse. The relationship between Kriti and the designers goes back to her modelling days, including her stunning appearance in Capella as their showstopper. She entered the design destination with a dreamy flower shower, courtesy Fiorella. The evening was graced by luminaries from the worlds of Film, Business and Sport including actor du jour Kriti Sanon dressed in a signature couture creation by Shantnu & Nikhil.

SHANTNU & NIKHIL PARADE

As an ode to the brand aesthetics and the strongest design pillar- Military Nuances, the brand facilitated a never seen before parade to announce the opening of the store. The march was seen twice at the iconic Kala Ghoda circle, in-front of the newly launched store. The cadets marched to the rhythm of fashion, and were seen welcoming Kriti Sanon into the store as well.

The restoration of the structure in Kalaghoda was a labour of love, preserving original elements that are over a century old and restoring their past glory, to present an India modern couture brand. Designed by acclaimed architect Viraj Kataria, this new destination houses the label’s signature gowns, their edgiest designs for the bold bride and immaculately structured occasion wear for men in a space where the original structures, rafters and brickwork have been restored to offer a historic background, a spiral staircase leading up to the second level, adds an element of sharp decadence highlighted by the perfect foil offered by the original ceiling of wooden rafters “With light meeting dark and old school marrying the contemporary, here we celebrate distinctiveness in design, encapsulating the rich splendour of vintage India blending it with the edgy & individualistic modern India”, says Nikhil Mehra

This couture destination in Mumbai comes close on the heels of a new “Shantnu & Nikhil” couture store at Defence Colony New Delhi as well as after a blockbuster year of store openings for the Bridge To Luxury brand, “S&N by Shantnu & Nikhil” which saw 10 new openings across New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. This quarter will also see a couture store opening in Hyderabad, taking the total physical store count for the Maison to an enviable 23 locations

The evening of 17th March was in association with Zoya Jewels and Mercedes Benz.

Shantnu & Nikhil, much loved for their design aesthetic of fusing elaborately carved contemporary cuts with an Indian handwriting, reaffirm their position as the country’s foremost couture designers with a robust expansion of their retail footprint, as they win over fans across the globe. “As Designers, we’ve always been fascinated with history and the grandeur it holds. Our work denotes the passion we hold in reviving nostalgia and retelling stories that are long forgotten. While we say More is More this season, we also say Classic is More!”, say the designer duo. This season we are revisiting vintage opulence for men & woman who are bold, extravagant and yet hold history close to their hearts.
