BIZSTREET’23

The world is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper.

The Commerce Society of Shri Ram College of Commerce organized Bizstreet-one of the largest undergraduate commerce festivals sponsored by IDP, ONGC, Columbus shoes and Lotus Flex toothpaste on 24th March, 25th March, and 6th April 2023. The event was held in the Sridhar Shriram Auditorium with a footfall of more than 400, including students from Shri Ram College of Commerce and various schools in Delhi. The event included a keynote speaker session, a panel discussion, and an interactive career-counseling session.
Mritunjay Menaria, the President of the Commerce Society at Shri Ram College of Commerce, delivered a captivating introduction to the society. The Commerce Society, which is one of six registered societies at Shri Ram College of Commerce, is the best commerce society in the entire fraternity of the University of Delhi. He emphasized that the Commerce Society recognizes the challenges and opportunities that arise from the dynamic landscape of modern innovations and management and strives to offer a robust platform for young individuals with a passion for brilliance to ignite their creative potential.

The first speaker who graced Bizstreet’2023 was Dr. Amitabh Rajan- Chairman of RBI Service Board. He spoke about the topic ‘Political Economy since 2008: Global Trends and Policy Options for Nation.’ He talked about equality of opportunity and mentioned that knowledge has three broad dimensions including Technical knowledge, Profits, and Emancipatory interest. He talked about Economics, Law Theory, and Governance as a part of Political economy. He talked about the famous economic debates that took place in the past and talked about how we are living in a neoliberal world. He suggested some important books as a must-read to the young minds present in the auditorium.
The speaker session was followed by an engaging panel discussion with some of the best corporate minds around India. The panelists included Mr Jayant Nagdev (Managing Director, Deloitte), Mr Shubham Arora (Director, Ernst & Young), Mr RV Verma (Chairman, AU Small Finance Bank), Ms Harshita Sabharwal (Managing Director, Accenture) and Ms Mahima Batish(Audit and Assurance Senior Manager, Deloitte and Touche) with Anju Bhalla (Joint Secretary, Department of Science and Technology) as the moderator for the session. The distinguished panel discussed a range of pressing global issues, including the state of the world economy and the geopolitical landscape. The conversation also delved into the importance of fostering creativity and the dual nature of challenges and opportunities in our post-lockdown reality. The discussion explored various factors, such as the role of effective leadership in navigating inflationary pressures and potential lay-offs, as well as the ways in which the post-pandemic world is shaping cultural norms and behaviours.

Following it, the esteemed founder of a premier GMAT coaching institution- Top One Percent, Mr Sandeep Gupta delivered an illuminating session, expounding on the nuances of pursuing an MBA from the world’s top business schools. He elucidated the concept of deferred MBA and shared his institute’s remarkable success rate in placing students at renowned institutions like Harvard, Kellogg’s, Wharton, and Northwestern, with lucrative job offers to boot. The Commerce Society of Shri Ram College of Commerce continued with the second day of Bizstreet – one of the largest undergraduate commerce festivals on 25th March 2023.
Day two of the event commenced with a speaker session with MR. YATINDER SINGH who showed a guiding ray through his struggling days from the small town of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh to attaining the title of Mr Asia and making the whole nation proud. He strived us through the journey of depressing days and when his physique was not relying on his inclination. He also shed light on different gym processes and wrote off any kind of rumours about the same. He guided “how a vegetarian can lodge a healthy living” and emphasised a full conviction on /limitations of steroids and harmful fake protein consumption. The event winded up with some rapid-fire questions and at last, Saurav commemorated the guest YATINDER SINGH with absolute honour and pleasure.


The event was continued by our next prominent speaker, business coach and famous social media influencer “MR.HIM-EESH MADAAN. He was enthusiastic about the session and began by depicting his struggles since the age of 12 when he had started working to survive and set off his family’s business debt. He intoned his shift and a mental curve from a decent job to entrepreneurship as he strived up from a business horizon. He shared a story about when he was driving to Sonipat and a boy tried to jump from the bus due to career pressure that curved and entailed his journey on social media (YouTube). He discussed the positive and negative space of thinking and commanding the mind with diverse positive actions and becoming a possibility thinker. He entailed these factors in a fun and interactive way with the audience with a reeve of “HAPPY SINGH AND UDAS SINGH”. It was then followed up with a Q&A session about diverse human proficiencies. In the end, Dr Alok Kumar, the teacher in charge of The Commerce Society honoured him. In the evening, a concert featuring “PARTH SHARMA” was held on the front lawns of SRCC, which attracted an audience of approximately 600 individuals. It was an enjoyable and memorable experience for all in attendance.

Bizstreet’23 encompassed four events to bring out the best of the skills of the participants through the commerce prism-.

Barrato- The Ultimate Trade Simulation On 6th April 2023, The Commerce Society, Shri Ram College of Commerce successfully organised the event Barrato, The Ultimate Trade Simulation in an offline setting within the premises. The event had its Prelims on the 1st of April 2023 wherein more than 1200 students participated as a team of 2-3 members or lone wolves. From the Prelims, 12 teams were shortlisted for the final round. It was The Day when the teams had to show up and emerge as a winner, the whole event was divided into 4 rounds namely- The Auction Round, The Research and Development Round, The Production Round and the Marketing and Investment Round.

Dynasty Doom- A Treasure Trove Competition
Dynasty Doom: A Treasure Trove Competition was conducted on 6th April 2023 in the offline mode at Shri Ram College of Commerce. The Commerce Society was proud to announce CTM Productions as its Event Partner for Dynasty Doom and Ambrane as its official event partner for Bizstreet 2023. The Final Round of Dynasty Doom had two further sub-rounds: Deadman’s Isle and Netflix Matrix.

Case Blitz- A Strategic Case Study Competition
“Shri Ram Case Blitz”- The Flagship Case Competition was organised under BizStreet’23- one of Asia’s largest undergraduate commerce festivals, sponsored by IDP, Columbus shoes, ONGC and Lotus Flex toothpaste on April 6th,2023. The Case Blitz competition consisted of 12 teams, shortlisted by rigorous evaluation of the briefcase solutions submitted in the previous round, and initiated with the first team which was from SRCC itself showcased their case solutions representing their skills and grit in front of the judges. The Commerce Society was honoured to have had Mr Arunabh Uttkarsh, Junior Associate at McKinsey & Company, Ms Sonal Pattanaik, Advisor Consultant at IBM Consulting and Mr Pratham Jain, Analyst at KPMG as the judges for the final round of Case Blitz

Genesis – The Shri Ram Incubator Challenge One of four executive competitions, Genesis was the B-plan competition inviting students across several colleges to challenge their business acumen. A blend of exciting challenges and treasure-filled learning opportunities, Genesis was a golden chance for the participants to pitch their startup Ideas to top leaders and get valuable insights and advice for your B-Plan from experts. The Commerce Society was honoured to have had Mr Vinay Bharaj, Management Consultant at Accenture Strategy, and Mrs Shikha Mittal, Founder, Be Artsy and Co-founder of Be your own Shakti as the judges for the final round of Genesis.

In conclusion, the event was a resounding success, bringing together a diverse range of perspectives and fostering engaging and thought-provoking discussions. The Commerce Society, Shri Ram College of Commerce is grateful to all the participants, speakers, and attendees for their valuable contributions, and for helping to make the event such a memorable and impactful experience.
